Annex Burgos creates a rite, a contemporary ritual projected on advertised spaces, recreated spaces.

... advertised by furniture, objects, fragments... recreated and full of possibilities...

Mixed-media artist. She earned a bachelor's degree at the Puerto Rico School of Fine Arts in 1992, and a Masters in Painting at the Pratt Institute in New York. Her first individual show in Puerto Rico, Interiores /exteriores (Interiors/Exteriors ), a joint exhibit of the Americas Museum and Raíces Gallery in 1990, showed us an original, well-defined vocabulary.  

In recent years, she has been commissioned to create diverse works by the private sector, as well as public projects. Among the projects for public spaces, is her famous Fruta Favorita ( Favorite Frute ), the well-known avocados commissioned for the restored marketplace in Santurce, by the Urban Art Project of the Municipality of San Juan under then Mayor Sila M. Calderón. On the other hand, for the private sector she designed, in collaboration with artist Néstor Otero, the important interactive/educational exhibit: Acángana: cien años de música puertorriqueña ( Acángana: One-hundred Years of Puerto Rican Music )   for Banco Popular de Puerto Rico.
